A blackberry's zing on a late summer's day
can awaken the spirit of fall,
She caresses the leaves with her gold-fingered ease,
And rejoices in the sparrowhawk's call.
Blackberries' ink drops stain fingers and cheeks,
As we mark the decay of the year
While the sun, hanging low, casts an aureate glow,
And we gather as the light disappears.
Listen now, to the story that nature tells,
Listen now, to the air,
Everything that ends now will begin, again, next year...
